Gioachino Rossini, one of the biggest names deeply linked to the Marche and in particular to Pesaro and its province.
The composer was born in Pesaro in 1792 and he left a profound mark on the development of Belcanto in the 19th century and beyond boasting three operas performed in different theatres before his twenties and the affirmation of his Rossinian "crescendo". Rossini earned for himself the nicknames "Italian Mozart" and "Swan of Pesaro".
His hometown plays an important role in his life and more over in his legacy: the municipality of Pesaro is his Universal Heir. The city honored him creating an internationa Music Conservatory, the Rossini Opera Festival and the latest Museo Nazionale Rossini.
